Julia Peeler

Julia Peeler, 94, of Dongola, died at 4:35 p.m. on Friday, Feb. 24, 2017, at Integrity Healthcare in Anna.

She was born on May 21, 1922, in Herrin, the daughter of the Rev. Samuel F. Reeves and Kathryn R. Denton Reeves. 

She married Hugh Peeler on Oct. 5, 1940. He preceded her in death on Dec. 26, 1977.

She retired from the Illinois Secretary of State driver’s license bureau in Anna. She was a member of the First Baptist Church of Dongola. 

She is survived by her daughter, Carroll “Cookie” (Michael) Williams of Dongola; grandsons Chris Williams, Perry Williams, John Williams, Michael Peeler, Corey Peeler and Brian Peeler; 14 great-grandchildren; nieces, nephews and many other relatives. 

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband; a son, Michael Hugh Peeler in 1983; and two brothers, Thomas and Wayne Reeves.

Funeral services were at 1 p.m. Monday, Feb. 27, at Crain Funeral Home in Dongola, with the Rev. Paul Sadler officiating. Interment was in the American Legion Cemetery in Dongola.

Memorials can be made to the American Legion Cemetery or to the First Baptist Church of Dongola.
