Julia Artheene Van Demark Rowe

Julia Artheene Van Demark Rowe, 99, of Anna, and of Mesa, Ariz., died at 2:20 p.m. Monday, July 16, 2016, at the Anna Rehabilitation and Nursing Center.

She was born on March 24, 1917, the daughter of Julia and James Van Demark. Julia and Kenmore Edward Rowe were married on Aug. 24, 1937.

She was a retired telephone operator receptionist.

During World War II, she was an inspector of brake expanders for B17 bombers, on which her husband, Kenmore, flew.

Survivors include son Kenmore Arthur Rowe, daughter-in-law Brenda Joyce Johnson Rowe of Dongola; two grandchildren, Shelly Terese Rowe Pender (Brian Lee Pender) of Jonesboro and Clayton Edward Rowe (Laura Renee Odom Rowe) of Chesapeake, Va.; five greatgrandchildren, Beth Anne Pender, Krista Lee Pender, Clayton Bryce Rowe, Ryan Timothy Rowe and Aaron Lee Rowe; many nieces and nephews and other relatives.

She was preceded in death by her parents; one brother, James; and her husband, Kenmore.

Graveside inurnment was Tuesday, July 26, at 1 p.m. at the American Legion Cemetery in Dongola, with Michael Cole officiating.

Crain Funeral Home in Dongola was in charge of cremation services.
