Joyce Wandalein Cates

Joyce Wandalein Cates, 89, of Anna, Illinois, went to her Heavenly home on Jan. 3, 2021, at the home of her daughter, Donna Cates. 

Memaw is survived by her children, Donna Cates, of Baton Rouge, La., Jerry Cates (Shirley) of Cape Girardeau, Connie Boyd (Steve) of Anna, Illinois, Larry Cates and Gary Cates (Dawn) of Mandeville, La.; grandchildren Chris Boyd (Angela), Courtney Aufdenberg, (Danny), Mandy Hall (Jon), Nealy Hamson, Ryan Cates (Cari),  Austin Cates and Breanna Cates; great-grandchildren Hunter Boyd, Brendon, (Charlyn) and Ashlee Johnson, Julia and Evan Hall, Brenna, Makenna and Jenna Hamson, Hadleigh Cates; a great-great-grandchild, Marianna Johnson; and other relatives, and many special friends: Special loved ones of Memaw, Hayden, Matt, (Shannon) Evie, Rusty, (Brittany) and Garrison Ellis, Trevor Taylor, and especially Randy Simmons and Lou Boswell.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Billy Cates; a brother, Curtis Adams; and a granddaughter, Kimberley Pridgen, (Donna’s daughter) of Baton Rouge, La. 

Many will remember Pinky by the warm hugs she gave to family and friends. She was a member of the Anna First Baptist Church. Memorial contributions can be made to the Casper Cemetery. 

In the future, there will be a private family service at the Casper Cemetery near Anna.
