John Everett Manninger

John Everett Manninger, 82, of Crockett, Texas, died on Tuesday, Feb. 11, 2020, at his residence.

He was born on Jan. 2, 1938, in Anna, to parents Fern Manninger and Mary Williams Manninger. 

Mr. Manninger had a long career as a Texas State Trooper serving in Wichita Falls, Decatur and in 1973 moved to Crockett, where he retired as sergeant after 35 years of service.

He was a faithful member and trustee of the Shady Grove Baptist Church, as well as a devoted husband, grandfather and servant of the State of Texas. 

Mr. Manninger is survived by his son, Robert Manninger and wife, Carolyn of Olney; a daughter, Pam Ferguson of Bluff Dale; grandchildren Chance Jordan and wife Callie of Grapeland, Nathan Manninger and wife Jaime of Olney, Joshua Manninger and wife Sara of Roanoke, and Ginger Nunn and husband Brent of Moore, Okla.; great-grandchildren Ashlie and Conner Jordan of Crockett, Bryce Nunn of Moore, Okla., Hayden and Skylar Manninger of Oklahoma City, Okla., and Grace Jordan of Grapeland; and a sister, Patricia Williams of Anna.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Mariam Hope Manninger; and his parents, Fern and Mary Manninger.

A celebration of life service for John Everett Manninger was held at 10:30 a.m. Sunday, Feb. 23, at Shady Grove Baptist Church, with the Rev. Terry Gibson and Dr. Paul Carlin officiating.
