Jimmie G. ‘Jim’ Fuller
Jimmie G. “Jim” Fuller, 84, of Jonesboro, died Wednesday, Jan. 5, 2022, at Jonesboro Rehabilitation and Health Care Center.
He was born on Jan. 19, 1937, in Anna, the son of Robart and Virgie Verble Fuller.
He married Dorothy Mae “Dot” Barlow on Feb. 21, 1959, in Anna. She preceded him in death on Nov. 10, 2013.
Mr. Fuller is survived by two sons, Stanley (Cheryl) Fuller of Jonesboro and Brad Lee Fuller of St. Louis; three grandchildren, Joshua (Trisha) Fuller, Noah Fuller and Hannah (Ryan) Hileman; two great-grandchildren, Estella Fuller and Josie Hileman; a sister, Eloise Lindsey of Harrisburg; a sister-in-law, Brenda (Dana) Lute of Florida; special friends Faye Pearson and Tammy Aden; nieces, nephews, other relatives and many friends.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Dot Fuller; his parents; a brother, Robert Fuller; two sisters-in-law, Betty Fuller and Norma Fuller; and a brother-in-law, Chet Lindsey.
He served in the U.S. Air Force from 1955 to 1959. He served the Cobden community as a fireman for 25 years, also serving as fire chief.
He was a member of Cobden Masonic Lodge No. 466, Moose Lodge No. 1346 in Anna and the Bass Club.
Together with his wife Dot, they started Jim & Dot’s Shoe and Western Wear Store in Anna; they worked side by side for over 48 years. This year would have been 57 years for him in business. He was an amazing shoe cobbler and could fix anything and he loved playing poker.
Funeral services for Mr. Fuller were at 10 a.m. Wednesday, Jan. 12, at Rendleman & Hileman Funeral Home in Anna, with the Rev. Joseph Hawkins officiating.
Interment followed in Jonesboro Cemetery. Military rites were conducted by Carroll P. Foster Post No. 3455 of the VFW in Anna and the Scott Air Force Base honor guard.
Memorials can be made to Moose Lodge No. 1346 in Anna or to Hospice of Southern Illinois.
