Jim Tucker

Jim Tucker, 82, of Mt. Pleasant, passed away holding the hand of his loving wife of 62 years with his children nearby on Tuesday, Oct. 22, 2024. 

He was born on Feb. 11, 1942, in East St. Louis, the son of Claude Lester and Tressie Davis Tucker. 

He married his high school sweetheart, Brenda Halterman, on Oct. 5, 1962, in Dongola. 

He is survived by his wife, Brenda Tucker of Mt. Pleasant; son Mark and wife Terry Tucker of Mt. Pleasant; daughter Christina Tucker-Higgins and husband Patrick of Jackson, Mo.; six grandchildren, Dylan Tucker, Dalton Tucker, Andrew Brumleve, Allan and wife Seirra Brumleve, Abigail Brumleve and Cody Gulledge; two great-grandchildren, Scarlett and Cade Brumleve and one more on the way. 

He was preceded in death by his parents; two brothers, Victor and Bobbie Tucker; and his loyal companion, Sasha.

He had a fascination with aviation from an early age, which led him to enlist in the U.S. Air Force. He honorably served his country from 1959 to 1967, primarily as an aircraft mechanic. 

He was a skilled mechanic and could fix anything Brenda could break. He worked with several mechanic shops before retiring from Ecker Tire on the Jonesboro Hill. His passion for flying led into building and constructing radio controlled aircrafts in his spare time. 

Memorial visitation for family and friends was from 11 a.m. until 1 p.m. Monday, Oct. 28, at Rendleman & Hileman Funeral Home in Anna. Graveside military rites were conducted by Carroll P. Foster Post No. 3455 of the VFW in Anna and the Scott Air Force Base military honor team at 2 p.m. at Camp Ground Cemetery near Anna. 

Memorials can be made to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital or to the Mercy Southeast Cancer Fund.
