Jim "Pa" Clary

Jim “Pa” Clary, 84, of Anna, died Sunday morning, Jan. 20, 2019, at home.

Mr. Clary was born on Sept. 26, 1934, in Rosiclare, the son of Frank Perry and Edna Marie Ginger Clary.  

He married Sue Jones on Dec. 6, 1957.

He worked for 39 years in the insurance business in Anna. He enjoyed coon hunting, bird hunting, fishing and camping.  

He loved being surrounded by children, especially his own grandchildren. He  would write his own poems, which he often shared with Sue. 

He attended Jonesboro First Baptist Church and Pleasant Ridge Baptist Church. Anyone could see Jim basically enjoyed “life.”  

He is survived by his wife, Sue Clary of Anna; children Mark Clary of Anna, Melinda Clary of Jonesboro and Todd Clary of Anna; grandchildren Megan (Miles) Coyle of Tampa, Fla., Kaci (Cory) Medley of Benton, Ky., and Samantha Clary of Jonesboro; great-grandchildren Keagan Hammer of Tampa, Fla., Brentley Coyle and Lilliana Coyle, both of Tampa, Fla., Mason James Medley and Khloe Rian Medley, both of Benton, Ky.; a sister-in-law and brother-in-law, Virginia (Ronald) Webb of Cypress; other relatives and friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents; a grandson, Sgt. Brian Matthew Romines; a sister, Jackie English; and his father and mother-in-law, Lester and Chloe Jones.

Funeral services were at 1:30 p.m. Wednesday, Jan. 23, at Crain Funeral Home in Anna-Jonesboro, with Perry Williams and Doug Bridgeman officiating.  

Interment was in the Anna City Cemetery, with military honors accorded by the VFW’s Carroll P. Foster Post No. 3455 and local honor guard.

Memorials can be made to the Shriners Hospital for Children or to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital.
