Jewel Lonnie Wright
Jewel (Jay) Lonnie Wright of Santa Ana, Calif., died on March 29, 2017, in Brea, Calif., at the age of 83.
He was born on May 31, 1933, to Wilma Arnold Wright and Charles Edward Wright.
He married Mary Evalane Berry on April 12, 1952, in Elco. Jewel and Mary grew up in the Anna-Jonesboro area and moved away in 1960.
He is survived by his brother, Louie Wright and his wife Patricia of Poplar Bluff, Mo.; son Cary Wright and his wife Karin of Houston, Texas; daughter Diana Wright Guerin of Fullerton, Calif.; son Michael Wright and his wife Lori Barker of Aliso Viejo, Calif.; grandchildren Miranda, Jonathan, Duncan, Alexandra and Noland; and great-grandson Kilian.
Other important people in his life were his sister-in-law Vi Berry, brother-in-law Ray Brimm and sister-in-law Barbara Berry.
He was preceded in death by his parents; brothers Delmar (Dale), Scott and Mitchell; sister Lula; and his wife Mary, with whom he shared more than 60 years of marriage.
As a young man, he enjoyed camping, hunting and fishing. As he grew older, he enjoyed RV’ing, photography and reading.
A celebration of life will be held for Jewel Lonnie Wright and his wife, Mary Evalane Berry Wright, (who died on June 25, 2014) at 2 p.m. on Saturday, Aug. 19, at Rendleman & Hileman Funeral Home in Jonesboro.
