Jessie Lee Aldridge

Jessie Lee Aldridge, 93, of Cobden, died Saturday, Dec. 3, 2022, at Memorial Hospital of Carbondale. 

He was born on April 19, 1929, in Cobden, the son of Jesse and Edna Sheppard Aldridge. 

He married Shirley Yates on Dec. 27, 1952, in Cobden.

Mr. Aldridge is survived by his wife, Shirley Aldridge of Cobden; one son, Gregory (Kim) Aldridge of Cobden; two grandchildren, Ryan (Melanie) Aldridge of Carbondale and Becca (Rowdy) Moore of Pomona; four great-grandchildren, Kenzie and Resa Aldridge and Raegan and Rynlee Moore. 

He was preceded in death by his parents, Jesse and Edna Aldridge; and by a brother, Dale Aldridge.

Mr. Aldridge was the self-proclaimed “King of Water Valley.” He was a member of Shiloh Baptist Church in Cobden. 

He served in the U.S. Air Force. He was an aircraft mechanic and retired from Southern Illinois University after more than 30 years of service.

Funeral services for Jessie Aldridge will be at 1 p.m. Friday, Dec. 9, at Rendleman & Hileman Funeral Home in Cobden, with Pastor Gregory Schmidt officiating. Interment will follow in the Cobden Cemetery. 

Visitation will be from 11 a.m. until the funeral hour at 1 p.m. Friday, Dec. 9, at Rendleman & Hileman Funeral Home in Cobden.  

Memorials can be made to the Alzheimer’s Association or the Veteran's Honor Flight. Envelopes will be available at the funeral home.
