Jerry E. Williamson

Jerry E. Williamson, 77, of Dongola, died at 1:22 a.m. Sunday, Dec. 8, 2019, at his home. 

He was born Jan. 17, 1942, in Leora, Mo., the son of Arvel and Frances Rankin Williamson.  

He married Janet Sligar on June 1, 1963.

Mr. Williamson was a lifetime member of IBEW Local No. 702, where he worked as a lineman for many years.  

He enjoyed horseback riding, hunting, was an avid trike builder and a master storyteller. But his biggest passion was his family and spending time with them.  

Mr. Williamson was also a lifetime member of the NRA. He was a member of the Masonic Lodge in Ullin and the First Baptist Church of Dongola.

He is survived by his wife, Janet and great-grandson, Daylon Williamson, both of Dongola; sons Jerry (Cathy) Williamson of Florissant, Mo., and Jeff (Patti) Williamson of Dongola; eight grandchildren, Jeffrey Williamson, Megan (Joey) Johns, Jessica (Dakota) Sellars, Jared (Jessica) Williamson, Jordan Williamson, Jeremy Sheppard, Jason (Crystal) Sheppard, Jared Sheppard; 11 great-grandchildren; sisters Janus (Richard) Kling of Marion, Betty Ivester of Scott City, Mo., and Emma Nell (Don) Kimbrel of Bloomfield, Mo.; nieces, nephews and other relatives.

He was preceded in death by his parents; a brother and sister-in-law, Lonell and Judy Williamson; a sister and brother-in-law, Dorothy and John Dawes; a great-grandson, Rhyker Johns; his father and mother-in-law, Jack and Dodie Sligar; brothers-in-law, Sam Cole and Keith Ivester.

Funeral services were at 1 p.m. Wednesday, Dec. 11, at Crain Funeral Home in Dongola, with Mike Cole officiating. Burial was in Christian Chapel Cemetery.
