Janet Marilyn Williams

Janet Marilyn Williams, 77, of Pulaski, died Thursday, Dec. 8, 2022, at 11:49 a.m. at the Lutheran Home in Cape Girardeau.

She was born on Aug. 14, 1945, in St. Joseph, Mo., the daughter of Robert Henry and Vera Lillian Fountain Whan. 

She married John Williams Sr. in 1967. They shared 54 years together until his passing on July 21, 2021. 

She attended Southern Illinois University Carbondale, where she earned her master’s degree in mathematics. She was an SIUC alumni.

She spent her working years as a substitute teacher for Meridian, Cairo, Olmstead, Egyptian and Century schools. 

She was a country girl at heart who enjoyed teaching her husband the country way. She enjoyed painting in her spare time. She had a strong belief in God. She loved John with all her heart and he loved her.

Survivors include her daughter, Jennifer Robinson of Memphis, Tenn.; son John Tyler (Stephanie) Williams Jr. of Herrin; grandchildren Jordan Robinson of Memphis, Tenn., John Tyler Williams III of Kansas City, Mo., Joshua (Ali) Lowe of Mt. Vernon, Shane (Cierra) Lowe of Mt. Vernon, Destiny Williams of Columbus, Mo., and Brittney Williams of Herrin; six great-grandchildren; nieces Molliette Williams, Sarah Williams and Pam Williams; nephew David Williams; and many other family members and friends.

She was preceded in death by her parents and  by her husband, John Sr.

Funeral services were at Crain Funeral Home-Egyptian Chapel in Energy on Tuesday, Dec. 13, at 1 p.m., with Kevin Bonifacious officiating. Cremation rites were accorded following the funeral service.

Crain Funeral Home-Egyptian Chapel in Energy was in charge of arrangements.

Memorials can be made to the Lutheran Home.
