Janet Capel

Janet Capel, 84, of Anna, died at 1:45 p.m. Tuesday, March 12, 2019, at the Union County Nursing Home in Anna.

She was born on Sept. 26, 1934, in Indianapolis, Ind., the daughter of Paul and Virginia Lawson Linzie.  

She married Wilburn Capel on Aug. 16, 1953, and they shared 65 years of marriage together.

She built her life around her family and her faith.  She was a wonderful homemaker and a very active member of First Baptist Church of Anna.  She served the church for 50 years as a member, a Sunday School teacher and as the church librarian.  

After she and Wilburn opened the Capel Pharmacy, inside was Mrs. Capel’s Porch, where she loved providing gift selections to the community.

She is survived by her husband, Wilburn Capel of Anna; a daughter, Dale (Randy) Thady of Gulfport, Fla.; sons Kim (Tonia) Capel and Grant (Kathy) Capel, both of Anna; grandchildren Evan (Jeff) Chastain of Winter Garden, Fla., Jeremy (Stephanie) Capel of Palmetto, Fla., Andrea (Tim) Goodman of Tijeras, N.M., Lauren (Alex) Siegfried of Anna and Olivia Capel of Anna;  great-grandchildren Ellyette Chastain, Elizabeth Capel, Ben Capel, Paige Goodman and Logan Siegfried; many other relatives and friends.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Paul and Virginia Linzie, and a granddaughter, Taylor Thady.

Funeral services for Janet Capel were at 11 a.m. Saturday, March 16, at Crain Funeral Home in Anna-Jonesboro, with Kim Capel officiating. Interment was  in the Anna City Cemetery.

Memorials can be made to the Anna First Baptist Church library, the Baptist Children’s Home in Carmi or St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital.
