James Thomas Simms

James Thomas Simms, 78, of Anna, died Friday, Aug. 2, 2019, at the Illinois Veterans Home in Quincy.

Mr. Simms was born on Oct. 7, 1940, in Caruthersville, Mo., the son of James Harold and Mary Lee Summers Simms.

Mr. Simms served in the U.S. Army. He worked as a car dealer and as an over the road truck driver.

Mr. Simms is survived by a son, James Robert (Lisa) Simms of Balley, Ala.; sisters Jackie Lee (Jim) Dillow of Anna, Debra McClinton of Cape Girardeau, Donna Essner of Florida, Denise Hopkins of Tennessee and Wanda Simms of Mobile, Ala.; a granddaughter, Tif Smith of Alabama; a grandson, Skylar Simms of Alabama; three great-grandchildren; other relatives and friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents, James and Mary Simms; his wife, Fay Simms; and three children.

Visitation will be from 9 a.m. until 10 a.m. Friday, Aug. 9, at Crain Funeral Home in Anna-Jonesboro. 

Funeral services will be at 10 a.m. Friday, Aug. 9, at Crain Funeral Home in Anna-Jonesboro, with the Rev. Perry Williams officiating. Private interment will take place at Mound City National Cemetery.
