James Jerome Williams

James Jerome Williams was born on Jan. 6, 1958, the son of Leroy and Geraldine Williams, in Cairo. He departed this life on August 21, 2021.

Mr. Williams retired from the Egyptian Community Unit School District, with over 20 years of service. 

He enjoyed being around children and playing with his John Deere toys. He also enjoyed basketball, but his greatest joy was spending time with his family and friends. 

He was known to most as a community leader and a mentor. He never hesitated to share his wisdom and testify to the goodness of God.

He was preceded in death by his parents; and by three brothers: Franklin E. Williams, Timothy D. Williams and Gary D. Williams.

To cherish his memories, he leaves behind his wife of 42 years, Dianna Williams. He also leaves two children, Shanell (Michael) Burrows and James Williams Jr. 

Along with his wife and children, he leaves behind six siblings, Leroy Williams Jr. of Tamms, Roger (Rose) Williams of Tamms, Alfred (Laverne) Williams of Tamms, Regina (Larry Sr.) Barnett of Mounds, Cynthia (Victor Sr.) Hardamon of Hampton, Va., and Teresa Williams of Tamms; one special aunt, Marene Jackson of Las Vegas, Nev.; and a very special adopted daughter, Rhonda Renee Walker.
