James 'Jamie' Fischer

James Arthur Fischer, 46, of Paducah, died Wednesday, Sept, 28, 2016, at his home. 

He was employed as a technician with Lemons Coin Machines Inc.

Mr. Fischer was born on Dec. 24, 1969, in Cairo, the son of John and Mary Fischer. He had been a lifelong member of St. Patrick Catholic Church in Cairo. He was a member of the Knights of Columbus and a 3rd Degree Knight. 

He served several times as the president of the Cairo chapter of the JayCees and also as a state director of the Illinois JayCees. He enjoyed competing in area barbeque competitions.

He is survived by his wife, Johnna Fischer, of Paducah, and her son, John Anderson and wife Barbara, and grandaughter, Hunter, of Mayfield, Ky.; his father, John Albert Fischer Jr., of Cairo; his sisters, Julie Fischer-Swisher and Jane Fischer, both of Cairo; his nieces, Amanda Gibson and Mary Kate Swisher, both of Cairo; his nephews, Matthew Stone and Jared Swisher, both of Cairo, Scott Gibson and wife Mesha, of Florissant, Mo.; eight great-nieces and nephews; many aunts, uncles and cousins.

He was preceded in death by his mother, Mary Emma Kaha Fischer; and his brother, John A. “Boo” Fischer III.

Funeral services were at 1 p.m. Tuesday, Oct. 4, at Milner & Orr Funeral Home in Paducah, with the Rev. Topper Council officiating. Burial was in Briensburg Cemetery.
