Jacob Lee Burton

Jacob Lee Burton, 80, of Tamms, died Thursday, March 16, 2023, at 6:55 a.m. at Integrity Nursing and Rehab in Anna.

He was born on July 16, 1942, in Grand Tower,  the son of William H. and Molly Ellen Knupp Burton.

He married Ethel Louise Dover on Dec. 3, 1963, and they spent 59 years blessed years together. She survives.

Mr. Burton was a farmer and loved being outside where he could plant his garden and work up the soil. When not gardening, he enjoyed tinkering and working on the lawn mower. 

He also loved the Lord. He was a pastor and evangelist and loved to preach the love and word of God. He was also a music enthusiast and played the guitar when he could.

Along with his wife, Mr. Burton is survived by his sisters, Ruth Ashworth, Edna Rambeau, Lela Davis and Cora Davis; brothers Robert Burton, Bill Burton, Ronald Burton and David Burton; and several other nieces, nephews, family and friends.

Along with his parents, he was preceded in death by his sister, Viola Smithey; and brothers Charlie Burton, Floyd Burton, Fred Burton, Tony Burton, Paul Burton, Andrew Burton and Clifford Burton.

Graveside services were at 1 p.m. Monday, March 20, at Fayville Cemetery in Olive Branch. Interment followed the graveside services.

Memorials can be made to Crain Funeral Home. Crain Funeral Home in Tamms was in charge of arrangements.
