Jack R. Sherwin
Jack R. Sherwin, 79, of Anna, and formerly of Chicago, died at 7:12 p.m. Saturday, July 14, 2018, at the Life Care Center of Cape Girardeau.
He was born on June 1, 1939, in Chicago, the son of Louis Delwin and Mary L. Valencic Sherwin.
He married Susan A. Stefanowicz on July 12, 1975, in Chicago.
He is survived by his wife, Susan Sherwin of Anna; his mother, Mary L. Sherwin of Morris; brothers William D. (Joyce) Sherwin of Claypool, Ind., Steven L. (Anne) Sherwin of Naperville and Robert M. Sherwin of Palm Beach, Calif.; two sisters-in-law, Marianne and Joanne; a special friend, James Mott of Colorado; many nieces, nephews and dear friends.
He was preceded in death by his father, Louis Delwin Sherwin; and a special friend, Thomas Fitzgerald.
He served in the U.S. Marine Corps from 1958 to 1961. He worked for the Chicago Police Department from 1962 to 1996, where he was a detective for over 34 years.
He was a member of St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Anna. He was a member of the Knights of Columbus 4th Degree. He served as a Grand Knight, District Deputy and Faithful Navigator.
Funeral Mass for Jack R. Sherwin will be held at 10 a.m. Thursday, today, at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Anna, with Father Federico Higuera officiating.
Military rites will be conducted by Carroll P. Foster VFW Post No. 3455 of Anna and the U.S. Marine Corps funeral honor detail.
The Rosary was said at 6:30 p.m. Wednesday, July 18, at the church.
