Jack Etherton

Jack Etherton, 84, of Anna, died Saturday, Sept. 14, 2019, at his home in Anna.

He was born on June 26, 1935, in Alto Pass, the son of William Dwayne and Lawanda Minton Etherton.  

He married Patsy Bonita Barnhart on Feb. 14, 1964. 

He was an excellent craftsman when it came to working with his hands.  He was an award-winning taxidermist for over 60 years and in later years did wood carving, gifting much of his work. He was also a hunter and fisherman and later became a conservationist.  

In his spare time he tended to his vegetable garden and showed at the fair.  Jack raised emus, quail, rabbits and pigeons.  

He also had a love for sports. In his youth he played basketball for the Alto Apaches and in later years followed many A-J sports.  

He is survived by his son, David Etherton of Anna; daughters Jackie Etherton of Anna, Holly Lacey of Olive Branch and Becky (Steve) Fornear; grandchildren Marcus Etherton, Michael (Jessi) Rogers, Nicholas (Espy) Lacey and Davie (Debra) Lacey; great-grandchildren Christian, Averie, Annabella, Cheyenne and Henley; nieces, nephews and other relatives.

Mr. Etherton was preceded in death by his wife, Patsy, and by a brother, Paul Etherton.

A memorial service will be held at 2 p.m. Friday, Sept. 20, at Crain Funeral Home in Anna-Jonesboro, with Greg Etherton officiating.  

Friends and family can gather from noon until the time of the service.

Inurnment will take place at a later date in Alto Pass Cemetery.

Memorials can be made to Crain Funeral Home to help the family with funeral expenses.
