Jack Allen Musgrave

Jack Allen Musgrave, 88, of Cobden, died at 11:20 p.m. Thursday, March 15, 2018, at the Marion VA Medical Center CLC.

He was born on Jan. 13, 1930, in Gary, Ind., the son of Louis Rayford and Marie Augusta James Musgrave.

He is survived by his son, Jack (Deborah) Musgrave of Cobden; a daughter, Melanie (Phil) Clemence of Summerfield, Fla.; two grandchildren, Daniel Musgrave and Jennifer Schildknecht; and great-grandchildren Lily Musgrave, Allison Colin, Jarod Schildknecht and Kevin Ervin.

He was preceded in death by his parents; two brothers, Richard Musgrave and Louis Musgrave; and one sister, Helen Sands.

He was of the Jehovah Witness faith. He served in the U.S. Army from 1951 to 1953 during the Korean Conflict.

He worked in the steel industry in Gary, Ind., and after moving back to Southern Illinois, he farmed and raised livestock. He loved to dig ginseng and was an avid golfer. At the age of 71, while playing golf with his son at Midland Hills Country Club, he made a hole in one.

According to his wishes, he will be cremated and no services will be held.
