Ivis W. Wright

Ivis W. Wright, 79, of Anna, died at 11:35 p.m. Monday, April 3, 2017, at his home.

He was born on June 4, 1937, in Johnson County, the son of Douglas and Edith Blades Wright.

He married Mary Lou Craft on May 6, 1995, in Anna.

He is survived by his wife, Mary Lou Wright of Anna; four stepdaughters, Ramona (Chuck) Rice of Benton, Brenda (Whitey) Turner of Ellsinore, Mo., Glenda (Tim) Glasco of Anna and Mary Ann Linze (Jody Clover) of De Soto; three daughters, Dianna (Stu) Miller of Grand Chain, Deanna Wright Gurley and Pam Lassar, both of Karnak; one son, J. Marvin (Teresa) Wright of Hazelwood, Mo.; a stepson, Mark Ross of Carterville; five grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; one great-great-grandchild; 12 step-grandchildren; 12 step-great-grandchildren; many other relatives and friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents, six brothers and one sister.

He was a member of the First Baptist Church in Jonesboro for many years. His family said he never met a stranger, he was a forever buddy to his close friends.

He worked as a mechanic most of his life and served as a police officer. He loved working in his garage and yard and keeping Mary Lou close by. Most of all, he enjoyed watching his grandchildren and granddaughters at the rodeo.

Funeral services for Mr. Wright were at 2 p.m. Thursday, April 6, at Rendleman & Hileman Funeral Home in Anna, with the Rev. Ken Wilson officiating.

Memorials can be made to Pleasant Ridge Baptist Church or to Hospice of Southern Illinois.
