Houston Casper

Houston Casper, 89, of Tucson, Ariz., and formerly of Anna, died at 5 a.m. Wednesday, Aug. 3, 2016, at Morning Glory Assisted Living in Peoria, Ariz.

He was born on Jan. 11, 1927, the son of Conrad Russel and Tirzah Blackford Casper.

He married Vera Fae (Pulliam) on Dec. 5, 1947, in Anna. She preceded him in death on Feb. 22, 2013.

He served in the U.S. Army during World War II. He was a carpenter in the construction trade for many years.

Houston is survived by his daughters, Connie Rae (Casper) Collins of Sun City, Ariz., and Kimberly Kay (Casper) Franklin of Mesa, Ariz.; three grandchildren, Lisa Scarpinato, Patrick Collins and David Franklin; and two great-grandchildren, Dustie Smith and Taylor Scarpinato.

He was preceded in death by his parents; and his wife, Vera Fae Casper.

Funeral services for Houston Casper will be at 11 a.m. Saturday, Aug. 13, at the New Beginnings Church in Anna. Interment will be in the Casper Cemetery near Anna, with the Rev. Richard Pearce officiating. Graveside military rites will be conducted by the Carroll P. Foster Post No. 3455 of the VFW in Anna and the Illinois Army National Guard military honors team of Marion.

Friends can call after 9 a.m. and until the service hour at 11 a.m. on Saturday, Aug. 13, at the New Beginnings Church in Anna.

Memorials can be made to Kitchen on the Street. Kitchen on the Street is a faith based non-profit organization which has a goal of: “Turning hunger into hope, one child at a time.”
