Helen V. Lingle North

Helen V. Lingle North, 102, of Jonesboro, died at 2:38 a.m. Sunday, Jan. 15, 2017, at the Jonesboro Rehabilitation and Health Care Facility.

She was born on July 6, 1914, in Ullin, the daughter of Clyde and Myrtle Sheffer Rivers.

She married Leroy Lingle and later married Joe North. Both husbands preceded her in death.

She is survived by her son, Leslie M. (Marie) Lingle of Iron City, Tenn.; two grandchildren, Gwen (Tex) Lehr of Cobden and Randy (John) Lingle of Foley, Ala.; two great-grandchildren, Jenna Lehr of Athens, Ohio, and Robby Lehr of Springfield; nieces and nephews; other relatives and friends.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husbands, Leroy Lingle and Joe North; an infant son, Leon Lingle; and three sisters, Carrie Robinson, Ellen Lingle and Effie Dexter.

She was a member of the First Baptist Church in Cobden for many years. She worked as an LPN at Choate Mental Health and Developmental Center in Anna from 1963-1975. She loved flower and vegetable gardening, working word search puzzles and spending time outdoors. Her dearest joy was spending time with her great-grandchildren, Jenna and Robby.

Funeral services for Mrs. North will be at 11 a.m. Saturday, Jan. 21, at Rendleman & Hileman Funeral Home in Jonesboro, with Bill Littrell officiating. Interment will be in the St. John’s Cemetery near Dongola.

Friends can call after 10 a.m. and until the service hour at 11 a.m. Saturday, Jan. 21, at Rendleman & Hileman Funeral Home in Jonesboro.

Memorials can be made to the St. John’s Cemetery Fund.
