Goldie Miller (Butler)

Goldie Miller (Butler), 86, was welcomed into the arms of Jesus on April 21, 2022.  

She was born on Dec. 8, 1935, in Elco. Her parents died when she was 2, and she and her younger brother Jack Butler , were raised by their uncle Frank. 

She married the love of her life, Gordon Miller, on Aug. 8, 1953. They had a baby boy, Jackie, born in 1955, who died just a short year later.  

They quickly decided to move to start a new adventure, and after trying a few locations, landed in Colorado Springs, Colo., in 1956.  

In 1969, they adopted their baby girl, Stacy.  Goldie was a very caring and devoted wife and mother. Gordon was sick much of his adult life, and Goldie cared for him until he passed in 1998.  

Goldie was a beautician and had a beauty shop in her home for many years.  She and Gordon also owned a miniature golf course, Putt-A-Round. Goldie retired from cosmetology when she became allergic to the permanent solution.  

She worked for School District 11, where she enjoyed working in the catering department.  

Goldie and her husband were youth group leaders at the churches they attended. Her faith in God was always an important part of her life.  

Goldie never met anyone she didn’t like and was a friend to all. She loved to cook, play dominos and card games, go to garage sales, laugh, smile and read.    Her family and friends will remember her kindness, her laugh and her sassiness, as she loved to tease people. 

She is survived by her daughter and her son-in-law, Stacy and John Strobel. She is also survived by Colleen Langendoerfer and Shirley Miller, her sisters-in-laws, numerous nieces and nephews and friends that all loved her so much.   

Goldie was preceded in death by her husband and brother. Goldie loved animals and leaves behind her beloved Lily and her granddog Toffee.  

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations to the donor’s favorite church or animal rescue would be appreciated.
