Goldie Delores Pearson

Goldie Delores Pearson, 85, of Cambria, and formerly of Cobden, died Friday, May 31, 2019, at Memorial Hospital in Carbondale. 

She was born on July 29, 1933, in Kennett, Ark., the daughter of Arthur Steve and Minnie Eva Scritchfield Wheetley. 

She married Donald Pearson on June 9, 1949, in Cobden. Together they shared nearly 70 wonderful years of marriage. 

She is survived by her children, Tom (Barb) Pearson, Dorman (Nancy) Pearson, LaDonna Pearson, Gary (Terri) Pearson, Cynthia (Brian) Johnson and Chris (Martha) Pearson; 12 grandchildren, Tim and Joe Pearson, Gary “TK” Couch Jr., Brooke Johnson, Ashley Fox, Lee Pearson, Lindsey Lyons, Shelby Edgington, Christopher and Carson Pearson, Ashley and Desiree Asbell; 14 great-grandchildren, Abigail and Nathaniel Pearson, Campbell and Kendrick Fox, Adaline Pearson, McKenna Lyons, Asher Dean Edgington, Ethan and Caleb Pearson, Jaydon Mason, Mitchell and Bella Blevins, Colette and Davis Pearson; two sisters, Glenda (Larry) Rednour and Evelyn Burgess; one brother, Avery Wheetley; many other relatives and friends. She was preceded by her parents and eight siblings.

She was a woman of great faith. She and her husband Don went on two missionary trips to Jamaica. During the years when he was pastoring various churches, she would lead the music ministries. 

She was co-owner and CEO of Pearson Trucking for many years. She was a devoted wife and mother, and always welcomed others in her home for a visit and home cooked meal. 

Funeral services were at 1 p.m. Wednesday, June 5, at Rendleman & Hileman Funeral Home in Cobden. Interment was in Rowan Cemetery in Makanda.
