Glenda Y. Russell
Glenda Y. Russell, 83, of Wolf Lake, died Monday, Dec. 7, 2020, at the Du Quoin Nursing and Rehab Center.
She was born on Oct. 17, 1937, in Breckenridge, Minn., the daughter of Arthur and Vivian Wagner Hogness.
Mrs. Russell is survived by her children, Kevin Russell of Murphysboro, Missy Fairbank of Pendleton, Ore., and Kelly (Staci) Russell of DeSoto; three grandchildren, Matthew Fairbank, Joshua Fairbank and Taryn Russell; three great-grandchildren, Hailee, Anson and Jade Fairbank; siblings Harold Hogness, Curt Hogness, Jackie Jenson and Valroy Hogness; nieces, nephews, other relatives and many friends.
She was preceded in death by her parents; and by siblings Roberta Wisnieski, Rodney, Marvin, Clifford, Kathleen, Paulette and Everette Hogness.
She was a member of the Faith Assembly of God in Wolf Lake. She was a faithful Christian and loved going to church.
She loved baking and cooking, especially chicken and dumplings that she would take to her friends and family to enjoy.
Her favorite time of year was Christmas and she enjoyed getting together with her family.
Mrs. Russell served in the U.S. Navy from 1956 to 1959. She worked many years at Dyno Nobel until her retirement in 2002.
Graveside services were at 11 a.m. Friday, Dec. 11, at the Jonesboro Cemetery, with Pastor Ron Thorn officiating. Interment immediately followed.
Memorials can be made to the Alzheimer’s Association or to the Angel Tree Christmas.
