Gerald ‘Jerry’ Casper

Gerald “Jerry” Casper, 64, of Jonesboro, died at 7:08 p.m. Thursday, Aug. 17, 2017, at his home.

He was born on Sept. 18, 1952, in Anna, the son of Betty Shepard Dunn.

He is survived by his mother, Betty Dunn of Carterville; six children, Samantha Brent of Canada, Jesse (Amanda) Casper of Idaho, Diana (Kenneth) Cox of Perryville, Mo., Sheldon (Jenna) Casper of Florida, Christy (T.J.) Smith of Jonesboro and Adam (Katie) Casper of Ohio; 13 grandchildren, Brandon and Brett Johnson, Jody, Laura and Natalee Brown, Brinlyn and Maddox Casper, Journey, Elijah, Zeke Casper, Chellesy Brent, Miles and Gabe Casper and Jozie Redman; three great-grandchildren, Colton Johnson, Gavin Johnson and Zoey Newberry; brothers Jeff (Ruth) Dunn of Vienna and Randy Dunn of Anna; a sister, Betty Jo Boyd of Carterville; his best friend, Janet Casper of Jonesboro; other relatives and many friends.

He was preceded in death by his brother, Steve Casper.

He enjoyed fishing, history and politics, and mostly spending time with his family. He dearly enjoyed weekly pool league with his daughter and grandsons.

Funeral services for Mr. Casper were at 1 p.m. Sunday, Aug. 20, at Rendleman & Hileman Funeral Home in Jonesboro. Interment was in the Casper Cemetery.

Military rites were conducted by Carroll P. Foster Post No. 3455 of the VFW in Anna and the Illinois Army National Guard funeral honor team of Marion.
