Frances Kathleen Manus

Frances Kathleen Manus, 83, of Anna, died Monday, Dec. 19, 2022, at Oakview Nursing and Rehab in Mt. Carmel.

She was born on Sept. 16, 1939, and grew up in Anna.  

After graduation from Anna-Jonesboro Community High School and Shawnee Community College, she began her life’s work in nursing.  

She worked several intervals at Union County Hospital in Anna, was a trauma nurse and was the first flight nurse for the area.  

She went on to become director of nursing for Wexford Health Services.  

She was a member of Anna Heights Baptist Church.

She was Nonnie to many, including her loving family; her son, Jay (Terry) Manus; her daughter, Beth Harvel (Sam Betts); grandchildren, Mike, Brandon (Ashley), Lauren (Davin), Lillie and Carl; great-grandchildren Peyton, Wyatt, Aniston, Asher, Landon and Dawson and one more on the way; her sister, Linda Kelley; nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.  

She was preceded in death by her son, Michael Patrick Manus, on Nov. 13, 1989; and by her parents, Frank and Laveda Fritz Pitts and Lyndall Turley.  

Funeral services were at 11 a.m. Friday, Dec. 23, at Crain Funeral Home in Anna-Jonesboro, with the Rev. Darryl Williams officiating. Interment in the Anna Cemetery followed the service.   

Memorials can be made to the Autism Society of Southern Illinois.
