Farrell Virgil McCrite Jr.

Farrell Virgil McCrite Jr., 66, of Tamms, died at 2:31 a.m. Monday, Aug. 20, 2018, at his home.

He was born on Nov. 6, 1951, in Anna, the son of Ferrell and Lucille Smith McCrite.

He served in the U.S. Army. After his service, he was a union construction worker and enjoyed playing solitaire, and watching football, baseball and western movies. 

He is survived by his daughter, Tammy McCrite-Moree of Jacksonville, Fla.; granddaughters Kayla (Joshua) McLoon of Jacksonville, Fla., and Stephanie McCrite of Jacksonville, Fla.; a great-granddaughter, Amelia McLoon of Jacksonville, Fla.; a sister, Beverly (Brad) Reid of Mexico, Mo.; nephews Phillip Reed of Mexico, Mo., David McCrite of Cape Girardeau, Paul Grace Jr. of Springfield, Mo., and Keif Thomas and Kwamemane Thomas, both of Tamms; nieces Rachel Reid of Jacksonville, Fla., Roslyn McCrite of Tamms, Ellen Kallaher of Jacksonville, Fla., Paula Phillips of Poplar Bluff, Mo., Crystal Baker of Springfield, Mo., Karrie McCrite of Alton, Robin McCrite of Alton, and Kayteuna Thomas and Kyleah Thomas, both of Tamms; 14 great-nieces and nephews; and five great-great-nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents; by sisters, Kay McCrite, Lois McCrite and Wanda Grace; and by brothers Robert McCrite, Elvis McCrite and James McCrite.

Visitation will be from 9:30 a.m. to 11:30 a.m. Monday, Aug. 27, at Crain Funeral Home in Tamms.

Funeral services will follow the visitation at 11:30 a.m. at the funeral home, with the Rev. Larry Buckles officiating. Interment will follow in Mound City National Cemetery.
