Everett ‘Bud’ Hawk

Everett “Bud” Hawk, 86, of Pomona, died Tuesday, Jan. 30, 2018, at his home.

He was born on Sept. 2, 1931, in Kinderhook Township, Mich., the son of Burleigh “Bert” and Violet Budd Hawk.

He married Berniece Clara Weis on May 31, 1955, in Hernando, Miss. She preceded him in death on May 20, 2013.

He is survived by his daughter, Yvonne Hawk Ridgeway of Pomona; a son, Arlen (Crystal) Hawk of Wentzville, Mo.; two grandchildren, Jackson and Hayden Hawk; two sisters, June Coonrod of Pana and Virginia Mileur of California; three brothers, Burleigh (Beverly) Hawk of Alto Pass, Dallas Hawk of Pomona and Homer (Janet) Hawk of Anna; other relatives and many friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents and by his wife, Berniece Clara Hawk.

He served in the U.S. Army from 1953 to 1955 during the Korean Conflict.

He was a long-time member of Murphysboro Masonic Lodge No. 498 AF & AM. He was a very hard worker throughout his life. For over 30 years he worked in steel fabrication until his retirement.

Funeral services for Mr. Hawk were at 1 p.m. Saturday, Feb. 3, at Dutch Ridge Baptist Church, with Eric Hanson officiating. Interment was in the Alto Pass Cemetery.

Graveside military rites were conducted by Carroll P. Foster Post No. 3455 of the VFW in Anna and the Illinois Army National Guard military honor team of Marion.
