Evelyn Dasenbrock

Evelyn Dasenbrock, 83, of Cobden, died Sunday, Dec. 9, 2018, at St. Francis Medical Center in Cape Girardeau. 

She was born on Oct. 9, 1935, in Mattoon, the daughter of Virgil and Gertrude Feree. 

She married Carl Dasenbrock on June 17, 1961, in Mattoon. 

Evelyn is survived by her husband, Carl Dasenbrock of Cobden; two daughters, Rhonda Dasenbrock of Cobden and Rachel (David) Knowlton of Rockport, Mass.; three grandchildren, Samuel, Sarah and Jacob Knowlton; siblings Rosemary Betty of Mattoon, Bernard (Carol) Feree of Springfield and Kathleen (Bob) Briles of Nashville; other relatives and many friends. 

She was preceded in death by her parents; one sister, Barbara Reinhart; and two brothers, Paul and James Feree. 

She taught English and Spanish  at a Coles County High School for two years prior to her marriage to  Carl.  

Upon arrival in Cobden in 1975, she was a stay at home mom, housewife and home maker, all while developing skills in art, weaving, woodcarving and music. 

 She was involved in preparing food and desserts at all fish fries at St. Joseph Church in Cobden since the tradition began many years ago. She, along with other church members enjoyed the fellowship with the folks from the area who attended.  

She loved her beautiful farm, her family and her grandchildren. She loved her Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, and often prayed the Rosary.

Mass of Christian Burial will be at 10 a.m. Monday, Dec. 17, at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Cobden, with Father Uriel Salamanca officiating. Interment will be in the St. Joseph Catholic Cemetery. 

Friends can call from 5 to 8 p.m. Sunday, Dec. 16, at Rendleman & Hileman Funeral Home in Cobden. The Rosary will be prayed at 7:30 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home. 

Memorials can be made to the St. Joseph Catholic Church.
