Ella Carlton

Ella Carlton, 83, of Vienna, died Saturday, Nov. 24, 2018, at 6:15 a.m. at the Ray and Kay Eckstein Hospice Care Center in Paducah.

She was born on March 1, 1935, in the Reynoldsville community, the daughter of Clovis Pearl Eudy and Virgie Jewel Cain Eudy.  

On March 17, 1973, she married Wayne Carlton at the Ullin First Baptist Church. He preceded her in death on July 30, 2011.

She is survived by her children, Connie (Ron) Duncan of Vienna, Kathy Baumann of Murphysboro, Sherry (Bobby) Throgmorton of Vienna, Jeff (Amy) Carlton of Columbia, Tennessee, Doug (Kathy) Carlton of Makanda, David Carlton of Broughton and Mike (Devonna) Carlton of Vienna; 12 grandchildren; several great-grandchildren; two brothers, Lynn (Janelle) Eudy and Lyman (Jean) Eudy, all of Jonesboro; as well as many nieces, nephews, other relatives and many friends. 

In addition to her parents and her husband, she was preceded in death by a sister, Janice Rhodes, and a son-in-law, Ray Baumann.

She was a 1953 graduate of Shawnee High School at Wolf Lake. She was a member of the first graduating class from the new school.

She worked for more than 24 years as a shoe dresser at the former Florsheim Shoe factory in Anna prior to her retirement in 1989.

She was a member of Fellowship Baptist Church.  She enjoyed flowers, gardening and craft making.

A memorial service was conducted at 5 p.m. Monday, Nov. 26, at Bailey Funeral Home in Vienna.  Inurnment will be at a later date in the Vienna Fraternal Cemetery.
