Elanor Stuart Farris

Elanor Stuart Farris, 87, of Goreville, and formerly of Olive Branch, died at 4:55 a.m. Tuesday, Nov. 10, 2020, at Angel Acres in Marion.

She was born on June 29, 1933, in Alexander County, the daughter of Claude and Greta Billings Stuart.  

She married Ted Farris on Oct. 29, 1950. He preceded her in death on May 28, 1998.

She worked at Vienna Glove Factory and then owned and operated T&E Ceramics. She also taught ceramic classes through Shawnee Community College.  

Mrs. Farris was a member of Eastern Star Chapter No. 1009. She petitioned Goreville Chapter No. 1009 Order of the Eastern Star on June 2, 1967, and was initiated on June 6, 1967. She served as worthy matron in 1972. On July 7, 2017, she became a 50-year member.

She is survived by her daughter, Debbie Farris of Goreville; sons Bob Farris and Gary (Terra) Farris, both of Goreville; seven grandchildren, Christie Johnson (friend Mike), Shawn Mitchell (friend Jamie), Tiffany (Scott) Jackson, Aaron (Jennie) Farris, Corrie Farris, Matthew Farris and Amanda Pritchett; 10 great-grandchildren, Levi, Chase, Dakota, Justin, Wes, Megan, Eli, Cyleigh, Caden and Jaycee; four great-great-grandchildren, Ryleigh, Avery, RaeLynn and Emeri; a sister, Marilyn Martin; a brother, Kenneth (Maida) Stuart; a brother-in-law, Don Farris; nieces, nephews and other relatives.

Besides her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by her son, Terry Lynn Farris, on Nov. 11, 1952; a daughter-in-law, Donna Farris; two grandchildren, Nikki Brogan and J.R. Clay; a brother-in-law, Don Martin; and a sister-in-law, Betty Jo (Russel) Healey.

Funeral services were at 2 p.m. Thursday, Nov. 12, at Blue Funeral Home in Goreville. Eastern Star rites were accorded at 1:45 p.m. Interment followed in Busby Chapel Cemetery in Goreville.

Crain Funeral Home in Tamms was in charge of arrangements.
