Edward L. Stone

Edward L. Stone, 87, of Dongola, died Saturday, Sept. 28, 2019, at the Jonesboro Rehab and Nursing Center. 

He was born on Nov. 13, 1931, in Alto Pass, the son of William C. and Ina Z. Davis Stone. He married Lillie Dodson on Aug. 12, 1955, in Tamms.

Mr. Stone is survived by his wife of 64 years, Lillie Stone of Dongola; a son, Steve (Laura) Stone of Skokie; a daughter, Tina (Chris) Furlong of Aldie, Va.; two grandchildren, Stephanie (Dan) Little and Richard Silver; two great-grandchildren, Hayden and Haylee Little; other relatives and many friends. He was preceded in death by his parents.

Mr. Stone was a member of the First Baptist Church in Jonesboro. He worked  for many years as a service advisor for A-J Motor Co. He loved fishing and traveling to Lake Port and Ft. Myers Beach in Florida. 

He served in the U.S. Army during the Korean Conflict. 

Funeral services were at 11 a.m. Tuesday, Oct. 1, at Rendleman & Hileman Funeral Home in Anna, with the Rev. Perry Williams and the Rev. Danny Miller officiating. 

Interment was in St. John’s Cemetery near Dongola. Graveside military rites were conducted by Carroll P. Foster Post No. 3455 of the VFW in Anna and the Illinois Army National Guard military honor team of Marion.
