Dortha C. Ballance

Dortha C. Ballance, 89, of Anna, died at 1:18 p.m. Thursday, Dec. 21, 2017, at her home.

She was born on March 18, 1928, in Anna, the daughter of Jim and Grace Brown Choate.

She married Harry Eugene “Gene” Williams. He preceded her in death on Aug. 29, 1991. Later, she married Eugene “Gene” Ballance. He preceded her in death.

She worked as a district loan manager with the Farmers Home Administration for many years until her retirement. She was a member of the Anna Heights Baptist Church, the Association of Federal Employees and the VFW Ladies Auxiliary.

She is survived by her daughters, Janet (Ron) Jennings of Anna and Jayne Jones (Mark Heern) of Makanda; a son, James (Kathy) McBride of Scottsdale, Ariz.; stepchildren Sue Williams, Darla Williams, Mike Ballance, Sam Ballance and Kay Jackson; seven grandchildren, Jamie Dix, Lora Nicole “Nicki” (Jared) Dudley, Ryan Paul (Miranda) Jones, Briana (Trent) Sheffer, Kristin (Jeff) Johnston, Jeremy (Karin) McBride, Jon (Diamond) McBride; five great-grandchildren, Sophia Dudley, Keira Johnston, Jameson Lucarelli, Declan McBride and Reed Paul Jones; a sister, Ethel Marlow of Bradenton, Fla.; other relatives and many friends.

She was preceded in death by her parents; two husbands; one daughter, Karen Dix; and two stepsons, Frankie Williams and Danny Ballance.

Funeral services for Dortha C. Ballance were at noon Wednesday, Dec. 27, at Rendleman & Hileman Funeral Home in Anna, with the Rev. Darryl Williams officiating. Interment was in the Anna Cemetery.
