Doris Jane Whitaker

Doris Jane Whitaker, 67, of Cairo, died at 10:25 p.m. Friday, March 26, 2021, at her residence.

She was born on Feb. 5, 1954, in Cairo, the daughter of Raymond Lee and Juanita Jane Haford Whitaker.

She worked at Crain Enterprise in Mounds City for over 20 years until her retirement. She loved to spoil and treat her nieces and nephews like her own. She was a loving mother to them.

She is survived by her three brothers, Phillip (Janie) Whitaker of Hopkinsville, Ky., Don (Betty Jean) Whitaker of Tunnel Hill and Robert (JoAnn) Whitaker of Cairo; five nieces, Carolyn Whitaker, Brenda (Dustin Hubbs) Kurtz, both of Cairo, Becky (Deon) Hunter of Owensboro, Ky., Jennifer (Fernando) Hernandez of Pembroke, Ky., and Amy (T.J.) Malone of Hopkinsville, Ky.; five nephews, Robert (Amanda Miller) Whitaker and Keith (Amber Rodgers) Whitaker, both of Cairo, Phillip (Amy) Whitaker Jr. of Hopkinsville, Ky., David (Tracy) Whitaker of Cadiz, Ky., and Donnie Whitaker of Tunnel Hill; and many other family members.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Raymond Lee and Juanita Jane Whitaker; brothers Jerry Whitaker and Raymond “Moose” Whitaker; and a sister, Carolyn Whitaker.

Graveside services will be held at Spencer Heights Cemetery in Mounds, on Friday, April 2, at 1 p.m., with Phillip Whitaker officiating.
