Donnie Campbell
Donnie Campbell, 77, of Cobden, died Monday, Dec. 10, 2018, at his home.
He was born on Feb. 28, 1941, in Anna, the son of James and Stella Ruth Claxton Campbell.
He married Toni Flamm on Sept. 11, 1965, at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Cobden.
Donnie is survived by his wife of 53 years, Toni Campbell of Cobden; two daughters, Lori (Marc) Cohen and Teri Campbell, all of Cobden; two grandchildren, Max and Sam Cohen; one sister, Judy (Jerry) Smith of Lebanon; sisters- and brothers-in-law Teresa (Bill) Hatley of Waterloo, Roberta (Don) Vanover of Rochester, Nancy Flamm of St. Louis, Diana (Mike) McCleland of Cobden and Roy “Sonny” Basler of Cobden; many nieces and nephews; other relatives and friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents; and by two sisters, Janet Sue Murray and Shirley Ruth Basler.
Donnie was a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church. He proudly served his country in the U.S. Navy. He was an avid golfer, and a Saluki basketball and football fan. He coached golf for Cobden High School from 2008 to 2015. He was a member of the Cobden Lions Club for over 50 years. Donnie enjoyed spending time at Starview Winery with his family.
Mass of Christian Burial was at 10 a.m. Friday, Dec. 14, 2018, at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Cobden, with Father Uriel Salamanca officiating.
Interment was in the St. Joseph Catholic Cemetery. Graveside military rites were conducted by Carroll P. Foster Post No. 3455 of the VFW in Anna.
A prayer service was held at 7:30 p.m. Thursday, Dec. 13, at Rendleman & Hileman Funeral Home in Cobden.
