Donna F. Vance
Donna F. Vance, 86, passed away peacefully, with her family at her side, on Saturday, March 2, 2024.
She was born on Oct. 14, 1937, in Royalton, the daughter of Kurt and Grace Fairley Wolff.
She married David A. Vance on Dec. 27, 1960, in Springfield. He preceded her in death on April 9, 2007.
She worked for Helene Curtis in Chicago before marriage. She then stayed home to raise her three daughters, before returning to work at Southern Illinois University Carbondale. She worked as a secretary for over 20 years, mainly in the English Department.
She is survived by her three daughters, Diane (Kevin) Vance-Snyder of Jackson, Mo., Debbie (Jeff) Lence of Jonesboro and Denise Vance of Cobden; seven grandchildren, Tony Lawrence, Theresa (Jeff) Gers, David (Toccarra) Lawrence, Erica Rains, Jeffery Lence, Kylee Angell and Levi (Rae) Lence; 13 great-grandchildren, Allison, Rileigh, Jose, Scott, Titan, Gavin, Skylar, Connor, Jeffery, Reece, Eleanor, Guinevere and Charlotte; a sister, Wanda Rybout of Carterville; nieces; nephews; other relatives; friends; and her four faithful companions, Miss Princess, Mr. Bumble, Blue and Trouble.
She was preceded in death by her husband; her parents; a brother and sister-in-law, Derrill and Verilee Wolff; and brothers-in-law John Vance, Bruce Vance, Gary Vance and Theodore Rybout.
According to her wishes, she will be cremated. There will be no services.
Memorials can be made to PAWS of Anna or to St. Francis Community Animal Rescue and Education of Murphysboro.
