Donald Richard Penrod
Donald Richard Penrod, 77, of Jonesboro, died Sunday, Oct. 21, 2018, at Memorial Hospital in Carbondale.
He was born on Sept. 14, 1941, in Murphysboro, the son of Melvin Richard and Leah Pearl Sims Penrod.
He married Lois “Janiece” Ellis on Nov. 2, 1964, in Murphysboro.
Survivors include his wife, Lois Penrod of Jonesboro; children Richard D. (Tammy) Penrod of Murphysboro, Monica S. (Brian) Bartimus of Harrisburg, Michael S. (Jackie) Penrod of Jonesboro, Leslie M. (Thomas E.) Bauman of Dongola and Amanda Sweet and friend (Kirk Randles) of Jonesboro; 18 grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; one brother, Kenneth Penrod of Anna; many other relatives and friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents; by his step-father, Glenn Rains; and by two great-grandsons.
He was a strong supporter and member of the Trinity Tabernacle Church in Jonesboro. He loved singing, reading, fishing, gardening and being outdoors.
Funeral services for Donald Richard Penrod will be at 11 a.m. Friday, Oct. 26, at Trinity Tabernacle Church in Jonesboro, with the Rev. Geoff Bond officiating. Interment will be in the Dutch Ridge Cemetery in Pomona.
