Donald Ray ‘Donnie’ Chapman
Donald Ray “Donnie” Chapman, 54, of Anna, and formerly of Vienna and a native of Wolf Lake, died Wednesday, May 31, 2017, at 2:45 p.m. at St. Francis Medical Center in Cape Girardeau.
He was born on Sept. 12, 1962, at the Union County Hospital in Anna, the son of Herschel Wilber “Blackie” Chapman and Eva Lee Andrews Chapman.
He was formerly united in marriage to Marlene Brumley.
He is survived by a son, Bradley Ray (his wife, Tara) Chapman of Vienna; a stepdaughter whom he loved and raised, Amanda Brumley of Vienna; a granddaughter, Enola Chapman; two step-grandchildren, Wyatt Krawczyk and Kenli Rae Brumley; five sisters, Martha Lemons of Cape Girardeau, Norma Burke of Scott City, Mo., Nancy Austin of Buncombe, Kay Chapman of Anna and Emma Hutchison of Brookport; four brothers, Herschel Chapman Jr. of New Port Richey, Fla., William Harold Chapman of Wolf Lake, James Chapman of Metropolis and Charles Chapman of Cobden; as well as many nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a brother, Herman Dean Chapman; and a sister, Irma Chapman.
He had worked as a laborer and tree trimmer. He was an avid outdoorsman and particularly enjoyed fishing, swimming and camping.
He was of the Christian faith.
A memorial service honoring the life of Donald Chapman will be held Saturday, June 10, at 2 p.m. at the First Christian Church, 511 N. 6th St., Vienna. Pastor Les Chamberlain will officiate.
The family will receive relatives and friends from 1 p.m. to 2 p.m. Saturday, June 10, at the First Christian Church. A luncheon will follow the memorial service and will be served in the church fellowship hall.
