Donald Milton Garver
Donald Milton Garver, 83, died at his residence in Murphysboro at 4:30 p.m. on Saturday, April 3, 2021.
He was born on April 2, 1938, in Decatur, the son of Gerald K. Garver and Thelma E. Casner Garver.
Mr. Garver served in the U.S. Army during the Cuban Missile Crisis.
He worked for 32 years as a fisherman’s biologist with the Illinois Department of Natural Resources.
Mr. Garver was an avid fisherman, hunter and golfer. He was known throughout the tennis community as a “formidable foe.”
He married Brenda Hunter on April 15, 1997, in Jackson County, and she survives.
Other survivors include one niece, Cyndi Salazar; three nephews, Rodney, Steve and Doug Greckow; and a brother-in-law and his wife, Stan Hunter and Janet Hunter of Cobden.
He was preceded in death by his parents; his sister, Janet Greckow Thompson; and Ruby and Bob Hunter of Anna.
His body will be cremated and there will be a Celebration of Life at a later date.
