Deloris Miller

Deloris Miller, 82, of Dongola, died Friday, Aug. 19, 2016, at her home.

She was born on Nov. 1, 1933, in Ullin, the daughter of Wilbur Joseph and Erma Marie Poole Richards.

She married Darrell Miller on Nov. 19, 1954.

After graduating from high school, she worked for McKesson-Robins Drug in Cairo and later started a family with Darrell. Once the children started school, she became an Avon representative for the Ullin area. Darrell and she owned and operated Porky’s Restaurant in Ullin from 1983 to 1993. She was known for her home baked bread and pies. She enjoyed watching her grandchildren play sports, fishing, quilting and reading.

She is survived by her husband, Darrell Miller of Dongola; daughters Cheryl Sherrill of Jonesboro and Cindy (Greg) Webb of Ullin; son Lynn (Sandra) Miller of Dongola; four grandchildren, Brad (Brittany) Sherrill, Jeff (Megan) Sherrill, Rusty Miller and Katelan Webb; two great-grandchildren, Adelle Sherrill and Lily Baker; sisters Betty (Delano) Mowery of Anna, Shirley (Jim) Huey of Portland, Ind., Geloria (Jack) Jerrell of Buncombe, Kathie (Lt. Gen. Garry) Trexler of Franklin, Tenn., and Lori (Rodney) Tite of Ullin; sister-in-law Susie Richards of Anna; nieces, nephews and other relatives.

She was preceded in death by her parents; a son-in-law, Tom Sherrill; a brother, Bud Richards; and an infant sister, Nadine Richards.

Funeral services were at noon Monday, Aug. 22, at Crain Funeral Home in Dongola, with Ronnie Gulley officiating. Interment followed in Friendship Cemetery.

Memorials can be made to America Cancer Society (Breast Cancer Research) or Southeast Cancer Center.
