Delmond Dale Ellis
Delmond Dale Ellis, 71, of Murphysboro, and formerly of Pomona, died at 9:31 a.m. on Aug. 20, 2020.
He was born on May 18, 1949, the son of Howard O. Ellis and Crettie Fuller Ellis.
Mr. Ellis was a veteran and served during Vietnam, where he drove heavy supply trucks. When he returned home he had a desire to keep driving trucks. He drove many years as an over the road semi truck driver. He was also an experienced logger.
Mr. Ellis was a man of faith and loved the Lord. He enjoyed playing his guitar and dobro with family and friends at church or at home. He liked fishing and digging ginseng roots.
He was always ready to help any time he was needed. He was a kindhearted man who loved his family and was very devoted.
Survivors are his wife, Pam; two sons, Sheldon Ellis of Murphysboro and Matthew Ellis of Cobden; three stepsons, Jody Etherton, Randy Etherton and Charlie Yearin, all of Murphysboro; 11 grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; one brother, David (Pam) Ellis of Pittsburg; three sisters, Janiece Penrod, Kathy (Randy) Wheaton of Jonesboro and Karen (Jack) Hicks of Pomona; two sisters-in-law, Norma Ellis of Murphysboro and Ruth (Ellis) Purvis of California, Mo; many other family members and friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents; one infant sister, Leone Ellis; three brothers, Deon Ellis, Leon Ellis and Eldon Ellis; one brother-in-law, Donald Penrod; and one sister-in-law, Goldie Ellis.
Graveside services were Monday, Aug. 24, at Dutch Ridge Cemetery near Pomona, with military honors accorded by Carroll P. Foster Post No. 3455 of Anna.
