David W. McKee Sr.

David W. McKee Sr., 62, of Dongola, died at 10:59 p.m. on Thursday, April 9, 2020 ,at St. Francis Medical Center in Cape Girardeau.

He was born on Feb. 5, 1958, in Wood River, the son of Harley and Mary Jean Meyer McKee.  

Mr. McKee was a heavy equipment operator and mechanic while owning and operating McKee Brothers Trucking.  

He had a passion for the outdoors, particularly fishing and hunting. He dearly loved his grandchildren.

He is survived by his children, Tonya Ladon McKee, David W. (Brandie) McKee Jr., Paul David McKee, Jamie (Aaron) Basler and Kyle Wrathell; his mother, Mary Jean Long; sisters Debra Jean (Vance) Hazelwood, Karen Tatum and Cynthia (Denny) Mathis; a brother, Kevin L. McKee; grandchildren Kiyren McKee, Keilen James, Kaivre James, Keigen James, Kearyah McKee, Khyson McKee, Ava McKee, Paisley McKee, Kalayah McKee, Garrett Basler and Nicole Basler; nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles and other relatives.

He was preceded in death by his father, Harley McKee; a niece, Brandy Darlene McKee; stepmother Virginia McKee; stepfather Bill Long; brother-in-law LeRoy Tatum Sr.; and Lana Ladon McKee.

Visitation will be from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. Friday, May 15, at Crain Funeral Home in Cape Girardeau.

Funeral services will be at 1 p.m. at the funeral home in Cape Girardeau, with Pastor Aaron Boyd officiating. Interment will follow in St. John’s Cemetery near Dongola.
