Darlene Sronce

Darlene Sronce, 72, of Cobden, went home to be with her Lord and Savior on Wednesday, Dec. 6, 2023, at Barnes-Jewish Hospital in St. Louis.

She was born on April 6, 1951, in Alto Pass, the daughter of Albert Leon and Ara Sarena Bittle Dallas. 

She married Ray Dean Sronce on Oct. 8, 1971, in Jonesboro. He preceded her in death on Sept. 17, 2001.

She was a wonderful homemaker. She absolutely adored raising her children, cooking and entertaining. Most of all, she truly loved caring for others. 

She enjoyed travelling to the beach and the mountains, always bringing a little bit of her trip back home with her. 

Her free spirit and caring nature brought joy to others. She enjoyed treasure hunting at the Goodwill or yard sales. 

She was a faithful member of the Full Gospel Pentecostal Church in Alto Pass. She loved singing and worshiping with her church family. 

She is survived by her children, Valery Sronce of Metropolis, Juahn Sronce (Penny Slocumb) of Dothan, Ala., and Tiffany (Derrick) Bowles of Cobden; grandchildren Josh, Trentin, Sebastian, Alex Sronce and Georgia Bowles; siblings Gordon Dallas of Edwardsville, Rayburn Dallas of Granite City and Mickie Myers of East Cape Girardeau; other relatives and many friends. 

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Ray Dean Sronce; an infant brother, Burl Dean Bittle; a brother-in-law, Sidney Myers; and sisters-in-law Barb and Josephine Dallas. 

Funeral services were at 1 p.m. Tuesday, Dec. 12, at Rendleman & Hileman Funeral Home in Anna, with the Rev. Billy Carter officiating. Interment was in the Alto Pass Cemetery.
