Dariel E. ‘Bud’ Emery
Dariel E. “Bud” Emery, 82, of Anna, died at 9:17 a.m. Tuesday, Oct. 4, 2016, at St. Francis Medical Center in Cape Girardeau.
He was born on Oct. 27, 1933, in Bush, the son of Jess Oral and Pauline Newton Emery.
He married Marjorie Leota McDaniel on Dec. 22, 1953, in Chicago.
He served in the U.S. Army during the Korean War. He retired from Pfauter-Maag in Rockford after 33 years of service. He was a volunteer sheriff with the Ogle County Sheriff’s Department and had his private pilot license. He enjoyed his Piper Cub and Ultra Light and Cessna 182. He was a member of Rock River Flyer’s in Ogle County.
He loved fishing in his pond with his son-in-law Rick and grandson Gary, playing in the dirt with his tractors and toys and enjoyed traveling. He worshiped at Camp Ground Cumberland Presbyterian Church.
He is survived by his wife of 62 years, Marjorie Leota Emery of Anna; a daughter, Daryl Jean (Rick) Messenger of Byron; a grandson, Gary Lee Treese; a step-granddaughter, Melissa Ann Phillips; step-great-grandchildren Curiss and Corie Phillips; a sister, Patricia Carter of Byron; a sister-in-law, Marlene Emery of Mt. Morris; nieces, nephews and other relatives.
He was preceded in death by his parents; and by a brother, Jim Emery.
Graveside services were at 10 a.m. Friday, Oct. 7, at Camp Ground Cemetery, with the Rev. Joe Vance officiating. Interment was in Camp Ground Cemetery.
