Cathy Sue Cobb

Cathy Sue Cobb, 65, of Murphysboro, died Tuesday, Aug. 3, 2021, at Memorial Hospital in Carbondale. 

She was born on July 21, 1956, in East St. Louis, the daughter of James Isaac and Margaret Fluanna Smith Newton. 

She married Robert Cobb on Sept. 1, 1979. He preceded her in death on Aug. 19, 2006.

Mrs. Cobb is survived by her children, Brian (Renee) Cobb, Shelley Elizabeth Cobb, Bo (Courtney) Cobb and Amber (Jorge) Ruiz; grandchildren Juliana Torrvella, Kendyll Blevens, Ashlynn Grace Cobb, Pete and Scarlett Ruiz; a brother, Leroy Newton; nieces and nephews; other relatives and friends. 

She was preceded in death by her parents and her husband, Robert Cobb.

She loved sunflowers and enjoyed doing needle point. She loved her dog, Miller, very much. She loved being a grandmother and was so proud of each new grandchild she had. 

Funeral services will be at 11 a.m. Saturday, Aug. 14, at Rendleman & Hileman Funeral Home in Jonesboro, with Pastor Ike Newton officiating. Interment will be in the Jonesboro Cemetery. 

Friends can call from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. Friday, Aug. 13, at the funeral home. 

Memorials can be made to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital. Envelopes will be available at the funeral home.
