Carolyn D. Crowell
Carolyn D. Crowell, 68, of Anna, died at 3:45 p.m. Friday, March 8, 2019, at Carbondale Memorial Hospital.
She was born on Aug. 11, 1950, in Union County, the daughter of Edward and Ruby Jane Youngblood Mixen.
She married Wayne Crowell on Oct. 16, 1966. He preceded her in death on Dec. 10, 2017.
She worked as a cook at Lincoln School for several years. She enjoyed being with her family.
She is survived by her son, Bryan W. (Amanda) Crowell of Dongola; a daughter, Mary Jane Crowell of Makanda; grandchildren John Michael DeWitt, Nathaniel Crowell, Kassady Crowell and Bryanna Crowell; brothers Kenneth (Janet) Mixen of Buncombe and Bruce (Marjorie) Mixen of North Carolina; a very close niece, Shirley Shelton; many other nieces, nephews and relatives.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Wayne Crowell; a grandson, Byron Christopher Anderson; sisters Geraldine DelHotal, Jean Ferrell, Gladys Carter and Betty Shelton; and brothers Don Mixen, Bobby Mixen and Darrell Mixen.
A memorial gathering was held from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. Wednesday, March 13, at Crain Funeral Home in Anna. Inurnment will take place at a later date at Mound City National Cemetery.
