Carlos Wayne ‘Los’ McKinney

Carlos Wayne ‘Los’ McKinney

Carlos Wayne “Los” McKinney, 52, of Jonesboro, died Saturday, Sept. 11, 2021, at his home.

He was born on March 1, 1969, in Anna, the son of Larry Dean and Carolyn Sue McCann McKinney.

He married the love of his life, Tammy Daily, on Aug. 28, 1993, in Jonesboro.

Mr. McKinney is survived by his wife, Tammy McKinney of Jonesboro; a son, Kiel McKinney of Jonesboro; his mother, Carolyn Sue (C.D.) Bostian of Lick Creek; three brothers, Scott McKinney (Lynn Stoner) of Anna, Treiver (Corina) McKinney of Daien, Wis., and Tony (Becky) McKinney of Delevan, Wis.; many aunts and uncles; nieces and nephews; his father-in-law, Bill Daily of Jonesboro; other relatives and many friends.

He was preceded in death by his father, Larry Dean McKinney; grandparents Floyd and Ruby McCann, Carlos and Freda McKinney; his mother-in-law, Catherine Daily; and a brother-in-law, Rick Daily.

Mr. McKinney was a member of the Anna Church of the Nazarene. He was a son, brother, husband, father, uncle and a friend to so many.

We’re grateful for so many memories, but Kiel explains his father best. He loved his job and his 18 wheeler, but not quite as much as he loved fishing the river with his son, random weekend adventures with his wife, who he loved with his entire heart and soul for 30 years.

He loved the outdoors, family getting together to enjoy each other’s company. He aggravated each one of his nieces and nephews and great nieces and nephews, but he loved them more.

He loved doing life with his family. Riding horses, telling jokes as he stood so firm in his signature stance with his hand on his back and those crooked glasses on his head. If you knew him, then you know.

Carlos never failed at protecting his family no matter what he stood up against. Family is what kept him driving on, both in life and in his 18 wheeler.

I witnessed him be fun, look down the eye of trouble and fear and even spoon fed our grandmother. He was always humble and kind.

He traveled many roads in his life in the years gone past, it was a life he chose. Many times driving all night, trying to get home and arriving so late. He has parked his truck now, his engine has stopped.

And those who love him, their hearts have dropped, he traveled this country with a smile and so much pride, now he drives the streets of Heaven on the trucker’s last ride.

If I could give anyone a word from him, it would be – Don’t miss him here. You should be fishing with a cold beer in your hand or hunting way up in your deer stand. That’s where he’ll be; that’s where you should miss him.

Memorial services will be from 3 p.m. to 6 p.m. Thursday, today, at King Neptune’s on East Davie Street in Anna. Memorials are requested to the family to assist with expenses.
