Brian Scott 'Bear' Blunt

Brian Scott “Bear” Blunt, 57, of Lynn Haven, Fla., and formerly of Cobden, died at 11:20 p.m. on June 19, 2019, at home, with his wife and son by his side.

He was born on Jan. 9, 1962, in Frankfurt, Germany, the son of Harold Lester Sr. and Ethel Mae Flamm Blunt.

He married Michele (Thompson) on Aug. 7, 1993, and they were blessed with a son, Xander Scott Blunt.

Mr. Blunt is survived by his wife and son; three brothers, Harry Blunt, Chuck (Charlotte) Meadows and Doug (Melody) Meadows, all of Cobden; his father-in-law and mother-in-law, Loyd and Carlena Thompson of Anna; numerous aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, cousins and treasured friends.

He was preceded in death by his father, his mother and a sister, Janis Graham.

Mr. Blunt served as an MP in the U.S. Army. He attended Southern Illinois University Carbondale on two separate occasions, earning bachelor’s degrees in math and accounting. It was in accounting where he found his true calling.

Mr. Blunt worked for the federal government for 31 years. He spent the last 18 years working for the Internal Revenue Service as a revenue agent for small business/self-employed.

He was highly respected at work by coworkers and those he was auditing.

He treasured time with his family, making special memories that would last a lifetime. He had a smile that would light up a room and a calmness that always let everyone know that everything was going to be all right.

A Celebration of Life for Brian Scott “Bear” Blunt will be at 10 a.m. Saturday, July 6, at the Anna First Baptist Church, which is located at 409 Morgan St. in Anna.

Per his wishes, he was cremated. Kent-Forest Lawn Funeral Home and Cemetery in Panama City, Fla., was in charge of arrangements.
