Brian Edward Burd

Brian Edward Burd, 59, of Grand Chain, died at 6 a.m. Monday, Dec. 12, 2022, at Baptist Health in Paducah.

He was born in Pekin, the son of James Edward and Charlotte Dalton Burd.

He was an avid hunter and fisherman. He enjoyed his grandchildren and attending their sporting events. He was employed with Southern Illinois Motor Xpress.

Mr. Burd received the following awards for sharpshooting: five 1st place Sharpshooter awards from Kentucky, two 2nd place Tennessee Police Pistol Championships, “Top Gun” Martin Marietta 1991 and 2nd place at the 1992 State Championship K.P.P.L. It was a passion of his years ago. He loved teaching his kids and grandkids how to shoot. 

He will be missed by his three dogs, Reba, Rockey and Acreed.

He was preceded in death by his brother, Michael James Burd; and his father, James Edward “Jim” Burd.

Survivors include his mother, Charlotte Burd of Olmsted; son and daughter-in-law Brandon and Sarah Burd of Grand Chain; daughters Ashley Burd of Grand Chain and Cody Burd of Vienna; grandchildren Allison and Hunter Burd and Jacob Rouse; sister and brother-in-law Monica and Bobby Edwards of Olmsted; other relatives and friends.

A memorial service was held at 7:30 p.m. Friday, Dec. 16, at the Jones Funeral Home in Villa Ridge. Bobby Edwards and Ben Talley officiated. Private burial followed.
